What is an NFC business card?
NFC enables you to share your digital card by tapping your NFC tag with another phone. Similar to ‘tap to pay’, your NFC tag lets you ‘tap to share’ your digital card.
NFC tags can come in many forms: stickers, keychains or physical cards. Haystack lets you pair your Haystack card with an NFC tag.
Is NFC/tap the best way to share my digital business card?
Based on our data (across more than 8 million cards), using an NFC card is actually NOT the best way to share your card - it actually negates most of the benefits of using digital business cards.
NFC tags are cheap - don’t pay $30-60 for your NFC card!
If you’re interested in pairing your digital business card with an NFC tag/card, don’t pay the exorbitant amounts charged by some companies.
NFC cards cost less than $1 (yes, less than one dollar!) per card. Haystack believes in fair and transparent pricing - charging clients an inflated price is just not part of our DNA.

What is the best way to share my digital business card then?
The best way to share your virtual business card is using either QR code, email or text/SMS. Why? Because these three methods just work… Always work!
When you share your card with someone you just met for the first time, you want to make that transaction as seamless as possible. Choosing QR code, email or text/SMS are simple ways your recipients are familiar with, and are used to receive information with.
Still wanting that physical card?
If you want the ‘tactile’ experience of a physical card, we recommend incorporating the QR code of your digital card on your printed paper card - the combination of a paper card with a QR code will outperform the NFC card every time.

Will I still need paper cards?
It’s totally up to you. We’ve designed Haystack so you won’t need paper cards.
Our goal is to create a safer and more effective way to share your details than the old paper cards. Most of our clients report back that after sharing their card three times, they don’t feel the need to use paper cards again.
Does the other person need to have the Haystack app?
No. You can share your Haystack card with anyone - even if they don’t have the app. Your card has a unique URL which can be shared at anytime, anywhere - and saved directly into the phone contacts of the person you're connecting with.
